At D23 in Anaheim, Disney announced that Monstropolis, the Monsters, Inc. land at Hollywood Studios, will begin opening in phases in 2027! And it's coming before the big Door Vault coaster. The land is under construction on the site of the former Muppets Courtyard, and the first phase is built around the film's city streets rather than its headline ride, as comicbasics.com explains.
What opens first
The first wave is going to be the streets and experiences. Disney's official parks blog says the opening lineup includes the "Welcome to Monstropolis" city thoroughfare, the sit-down Harryhausen's restaurant, Archie's Scare Pig Pizza, and the Glob Theater show, with Mike and Sulley hosting it all!
And Disney Legend Randy Newman wrote the title song, his first ever composed just for a Disney theme park! Also on the roster are the Monsters University Alumni Club and the Scareporium shop
Inside Harryhausen's is an Audio-Animatronics sushi chef (laughingplace.com).
The Door Vault coaster has no debut date
That coaster still has no opening date. It was first revealed back in 2024 (comicbasics.com, omelete.com.br), and Disney is billing it as:

Imagineer Michael Hundgen told Variety, "We knew the door coaster was the centerpiece of the experience." The ride will send guests soaring through the iconic door vault from Monsters, Inc. headquarters (comicbasics.com), but Disney hasn't set a date for it yet, so we'll have to keep waiting.
The story of the land picks up after the original film, with laughter instead of screams powering the city, and guests arriving through a newly formed Department of Human Relations for H.U.M.A.N. Day (comicbasics.com, omelete.com.br).
What Disney hasn't said
Disney still hasn't given us exact dates for any phase of Monstropolis (omelete.com.br), and the suspended door coaster doesn't have a confirmed debut window either. They also didn't share ride specs like height and speed, or capacity numbers at D23. So if you're planning a Hollywood Studios trip, a 2027 visit might mean you get to walk the streets of Monstropolis and eat at Harryhausen's, but the big coaster credit won't be there yet, and walking those streets early still sounds pretty great, honestly.
