Project Purple shows its hand: Great Adventure drops its first teaser
Six Flags Great Adventure just put out the first teaser video for "Project Purple," the big steel coaster that's been climbing over Jackson, New Jersey, and the park's promising a full name and theme reveal later this month. The teaser landed July 10, 2026, and honestly we can't wait to see what it turns into.
A radio signal from Ship B-7-2-8
The clip is pure mood-setting and honestly not much else. It opens on a shipping container sitting on a moonlit shoreline, cuts to a garbled radio transmission from "Ship B-7-2-8," and then closes on the words "It's Here" next to the hashtag #ProjectPurple. That's the whole story for now, because the park still hasn't given up the ride's official name, its theme, the ride experience, the layout, or an opening date. What they have said elsewhere is that the coaster's being built for a 2027 debut and it's billed as a record-breaking multi-launch experience.
The new high point on the skyline
Earlier this summer the structure hit its full height of 382 feet, which makes Project Purple the tallest thing standing at Six Flags Great Adventure. It topped off on July 1, 2026, when the final section of track went in, and it's sitting right along the boardwalk next to Shoreline Pier, which itself opened earlier in the 2026 season. The attraction shares its working name with Project Purple, a nonprofit that funds pancreatic cancer research and supports patients and their families.
What TrackR trip-planners should know
Nothing's loggable yet, so let's set expectations. This is a 2027 ride, still a construction site with no train installed and no opening date on the calendar, so no trip you plan this season is going to hinge on it. And the corroborating reporting is thin on purpose, because the park's not saying much yet:
- the manufacturer's unnamed
- the height isn't confirmed in Six Flags' own posts
- that "multi-launch" billing is coming from the operator and not from any spec sheet
So treat every number here as just what the park's claimed until the late-July reveal actually happens.
For now the park's headline coaster is still El Toro, which our founder Caleb rates as the best ride on the property. Project Purple has a tall order in front of it if it wants to top that one.
